ColorPerse™ A100 is an advanced pigment dispersion system that allows formulations to incorporate much higher levels of untreated pigments like iron oxides, titanium dioxide, and others into anhydrous (water-free) systems.
Key Features:
- Significantly increases the maximum loadable level of untreated pigments, often by around 35% over standard dispersions
- Creates a hydrophobic (water-repelling) coating on pigment particles to enhance water resistance and wear properties
- Effective at low use levels of just 3-5% of the total pigment weight
- Versatile and compatible with all common color pigments like iron oxides, titanium dioxide, etc.
Benefits:
- Eliminates the need for more expensive surface-treated pigments
- Increases color strength and vibrancy
- Boosts SPF performance when using ultra-fine titanium dioxide or zinc oxide
- Improves manufacturing efficiency by allowing higher pigment loadings
The product works by having ingredients that bind to and coat the surface of pigment particles, making them more dispersible in oil-based anhydrous systems.
Applications:
- Color cosmetics: foundations, mascaras, lipsticks, eyeliners, eyeshadows, blushes, etc.
- Compact powders as a liquid binder
- Sunscreens utilizing inorganic UV filters
Formulation Guidelines:
1. Premix the ColorPerse™ A100, ethylhexyl palmitate, and silicone fluid
2. Add thickener and half the pigment mix, milling at high shear for 10-15 minutes
3. Gradually add remaining pigments in portions with continued milling
4. Optional additional milling can further improve dispersion
The result is a smooth, pourable pigment dispersion containing around 70% pigments compared to 40% for untreated dispersions.
Processing Tips:
- Heat dispersion above 60°C for better coating
- Use maximum possible pigment load for best results
- Exclude emulsifiers and water phase until after dispersion
The product may solidify at low temperatures but can be reliquified by heating to 30°C. Some settling is normal but can be redistributed with mixing.
Use: Use to diffuse pigment in makeup (pigment wetter/disperser/binder) for any makeup formulation that contains pigments.
Mixing method: Mix together in the oil or mixed with color powder
Usage rate: 1-5% (recommend 2-3%)
Product characteristics: clear liquid, odorless
Solubility: soluble in oil
Storage: can be stored at room temperature But close the lid of the bottle tightly. and protected from sunlight or heat, the product has a shelf life of at least 3 years
INCI Name : Polyhydroxystearic Acid (and) Lecithin (and) Ethylhexyl Palmitate (and) Isopropyl Myristate (and) Isostearic Acid (and) Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate
